Thank You Reflections & Connections from Colombia

After three days, they are finished. Honestly, I think it’s the parents who deserve a medal. The boys finished writing thank you cards to those we interviewed-sharing the connections they noticed between the interview conversation and what they experienced in Colombia. Food. Futbol. Flags.

Why is it so difficult for kids to write thank you notes?

  • not knowing what to say
  • wondering how to say it
  • not yet understanding the value of showing appreciation

Comparing their Cultural Interview notes to their actual experiences has made deeper connections for our kids. We know it’s worthwhile. Even though it took patience and several times of revisiting the project, I’m so glad that the people who took the time to share their culture with our kids will receive a photo card with notes of reflection and appreciation.

Share your experience in the comments below. Have your kids struggled to write thank you notes? What helps them?

Welcome to Domino Tracks, where we prepare kids for upcoming travel experiences. As both educator and mom, I want to raise boys who see that humans are more alike than different. The world is our classroom!
